Kuchina & Chico Surte

We have the best horse in the world, or more like, he has us - for we do not own him, he owns us! His name is Chico Surte and he is 10 years old, and has been here with us from a yearling. The whole family rides him, from my nine-year-old sister right through to my 79-year-old granddad.

He can do all movements with ease, canter, pirouettes - just think of the movement and it's done! He also works with our dogs, as in the photos, which were taken in August when we were warming up to go into the main arena.

We have many horses, but Chico Surte is the one we all like to get partnered with as he looks after us so well, and even if he's partnered with a young horse that's prancing about all over the place, he will carry on and do what he does best which is looking after his rider anc giving a great display.

Someone will always ask mum how much he is but she always replies "He cannot be begged, borrowed and woe betide anyone who tried to steal him!"
