"What
a difference a day makes" or in my case 365 days. This time
last year it was all doom and gloom but the 2002 season has
been a good one for me, to say the least. I have gained one
new box, two new dogs, three new horses and many friends as
I travelled the length and breadth of England. I received
wonderful welcomes at all the events and one of the best was
in Essex in September where a 40,000 strong crowd made their
way through the turnstiles. My young horse, Suerte as you
know, loves to play to the crowd - the more the merrier –
and he excelled there. His fan club has grown a great deal
since that day.
On
my return home a lovely surprise awaited me. Kuchina Jr. and
one of my horses had been picked to feature on ‘My Favourite
Horse' calendar for 2003. I had been told I was short listed
with about 400 others and, therefore, had not given it another
thought. It was lovely to see the calendar and my daughter
is very happy to be a ‘calendar girl.'
After
a few days at home I was off to Kent to be interviewed by
the BBC. Now giving shows, training dogs and horses are all
fine but giving a live interview - I was really nervous as
you can imagine. Back at the yard the display horses were
resting; the stallion was back in training and doing well;
and Woody, my youngest dog smothered me with affection. Everything
seemed so good I was on a high. But, when I went to pick my
children up from school things changed. While sitting in the
car park a woman reversed into me - my husband's car – and
literally I was brought back down to earth with a bump. If
things like that did not happen it just would not be life,
would it?
I
would like to thank all those who have called and asked how
Nina is getting on. I will give you a full report in 2003.
Thanks to all the readers who have shown interest in my horses
and dogs and who have come along to our shows.
